Whitewater rafting on the Nile is an exhilarating adventure where you will paddle through thrilling rapids, surrounded by stunning landscapes. You’ll experience everything from calm, scenic stretches to exciting Grade 5 rapids. It’s an adventure of a lifetime!
No previous rafting experience is required! Our trips are suitable for beginners and experienced rafters alike. Our guides will teach you the basics, and we start on calmer waters before progressing to more challenging rapids.
A full-day rafting trip typically lasts from 9:00 AM to around 4:00 PM. You will be on the river for about 3-5 hours, with time for breaks during rafting and lunch after the adventure.
Yes, swimming is allowed in certain safe sections of the river. Your guide will let you know when and where it’s safe to take a dip. Many rafters enjoy floating in the calmer parts of the river during breaks.
If you can't swim, that's okay! You do not need to be a swimmer to enjoy rafting! All participants wear high-quality buoyancy vests that keep you afloat, even if you fall into the water.
We recommend leaving your personal camera at the base for safety reasons. However, we provide complimentary photos of your rafting adventure, so you’ll have great memories to look back on!

Yes, rafting is safe during the rainy season. The rain adds to the thrill of the adventure, and our guides are highly trained to navigate in all weather conditions. We also monitor the weather and water levels to ensure your safety.
You don’t need to be in top physical condition, but a basic level of fitness is helpful. As long as you don’t have any limiting physical disabilities or injuries, you’ll be able to enjoy the adventure. Most importantly, you just need to listen carefully to your guide’s instructions.
If you’re not comfortable with certain rapids, you can always transfer to the safety oar boat, where you can enjoy the scenery without paddling through the rapids.
Wear comfortable, quick-drying clothes and secure, water-friendly footwear. Don’t forget sunscreen to protect your skin from the tropical sun. For more detailed advice, check out our guide on what to wear for rafting.
Yes, you will get wet, and that’s all part of the fun! Whether it’s from splashing through the rapids or jumping into the Nile for a swim, expect to enjoy getting soaked as part of the adventure.
You should bring a swimsuit, sunscreen, a hat, water shoes, and any personal medications. We recommend leaving valuables, like jewelry, at the base as we can't guarantee their safety during the trip.

The risk of contracting bilharzia while rafting is very low. Bilharzia thrives in still, stagnant water like Lake Victoria. In contrast, we raft on fast-moving rapids and ever-changing river sections, which are largely parasite-free. While bilharzia is a treatable condition requiring a single dose of praziquantel (available over-the-counter in Jinja pharmacies), it's important to be aware of the potential risk. However, given the river conditions, contracting bilharzia while rafting is unlikely.
